“ I had a fantastic first-time experience here! Despite the restaurant being packed, I was promptly seated at a shared table. The service was incredibly fast, and the food was delicious. I ordered the sautéed vegetables with curry, steamed rice, and spring roll, and everything tasted great. The employees were also friendly and welcoming. The resturant is on the second floor . So if you have difficulties climbing stairs it is not the option for you . Otherwise you need to try them out . You will see lots of very cute decorative Chinese stuff all around . I'll definitely be back! ”

“ Solid food at a reasonable price. You can tell this is where the locals eat. The food came out piping hot in the namesake clay pots, and most dishes were quite good. Some were a bit on the saltier side. Service was good, and the atmosphere felt nostalgic. I would come back for the tasty, classic dishes, homey vibe, and good value. ”

“ Food was pretty good but overall not a standout. One thing to keep in mind is that they don't serve the typical Cantonese style clay pot with rice cooked underneath the meat/veggie dishes. It was just meat and veggies cooked/served in a clay pot. We ordered the curry chicken, fried rice, and fried wontons. Quality is overall good and service was fast. It was overall satisfying and portions are good. It will definitely serve you well as just a practical place to grab a quick meal. Price point was good, only $40 for two for lunch. You don't pay for any extra frills here. The place looks like a time capsule and probably hasn't significantly changed in 40-50 years. It makes me at least nostalgic for bygone times, typical hole in the wall Chinatown restaurant. ”

“ We were in the mood for something warm and comforting, so we decided to come here for clay pots. Their beef & tofu clay pot that I got was really good and flavorful; the beef was tender and the tofu was nice and soft. ”

“ We got the salt pepper pork chops (crispy and well seasoned), clam and frog clay pot (wish there was more frog but well seasoned), pepper steak (tender and good black pepper flavor) and some calamari (crispy and well fried). The food tasted great but the dishes were smaller portioned than I thought it would be. There was only two people working and we were taken 30 minutes before closing which was much appreciated. Overall, a good experience and would come again! ”

The good: - their clay pots are delicious and are not too salty -- if you'd like a saltier experience, you can ask them or add some soy sauce or salt yourself? - really like their green beans and chow fun too. “ HK clay pot restaurant has a ton of reviews and is a staple in Chinatown, but it's easy to miss! Keep your eyes peeled for a red restaurant sign and a carpeted stairwell that'll take you to the restaurant on the upper floor. I went on a busy Friday evening, but my party of two was seated immediately. The restaurant was bustling with locals and tourists filling the 15 or so tables. Even with a full house and tiny FOH team, the service was exceptional! Employees were quite attentive and had a good grasp of when customers needed something and were ready to order. We ordered the seafood clay pot and dried XO scallop sauce with shrimp fried rice. The clay pot was still bubbling when it came out. The tofu was nice and smooth and there was a good serving of seafood (squid, shrimp, fish). My only gripe with the clay pot was that the dish was rather salty. The XO sauce fried rice was really exceptional, though! With large pieces of shrimp and the fragrant wok aroma, the fried rice is enough to keep me coming back! ”

Be warned however as there is no waitlist to put your name down, you just have to wait in line. -FOOD- #28 claypot: frog was delicious with the sauce, normally claypots come with rice but this didn't have it. No biggie! -Honey walnut prawn- one of the better ones I've had. Sauce was all the same but you know the shrimp is popping when it "bounces" it your mouth. Nothing too special about the last 3 dishes, pretty much taste the same like any other Chinese restaurant here in the neighborhood but still damn good! -Clams -Fried rice -Eggplant ( a little greasy though) ”
